З 6 по 16 серпня у мальовничому швейцарському курорті на озері Маджоре відбудеться 78-й Міжнародний кінофестиваль у Локарно — один із найпрестижніших кінофорумів Європи. Цьогоріч у головному конкурсі за Золотого леопарда змагатимуться 17 фільмів, серед яких одразу три мають тісний зв’язок з Австрією. Особливу увагу привертає «White Snail» — нова робота режисерського дуету Ельзи Кремзер та Левіна Пітера, відомих за фільмом «Space Dogs». Картина розповідає делікатну історію кохання між білоруською моделлю та працівником моргу — Марусею і Мишком, двома аутсайдерами, які блукають разом теплими літніми ночами Мінська. «White Snail» представлений як австрійська копродукція та має всі шанси на головну нагороду. У міжнародному конкурсі також представлені «Dracula» — стрічка румунського режисера Раджу Джуде, володаря нагород Берлінського кінофестивалю, а також «As Estações» (Сезони) маурен Фазендейрос. У молодіжній секції «Pardi di domani», що підтримує молоді таланти, бере участь ще одна австрійська робота — «Bleifrei 95» режисерок Емми Хютт і Тіни Муфлер, яка також претендує на нагороди. Фестиваль традиційно відзначається атмосферою вечірніх показів просто неба на старовинній площі Локарно. Церемонія нагородження, включно з врученням Золотого леопарда, відбудеться 16 серпня під зоряним небом — це кульмінація масштабного культурного заходу.
Locarno 2025: Three Films with Austrian Flair Compete for the Golden Leopard
From August 6 to 16, the 78th Locarno International Film Festival will take place in the picturesque Swiss resort town on Lake Maggiore — one of Europe’s most prestigious film events. This year, 17 films will compete for the Golden Leopard in the main competition, with three works closely connected to Austria. A highlight is White Snail, the new film by directing duo Elsa Kremser and Levin Peter, known for their earlier work Space Dogs. The film tells a delicate love story between a Belarusian model and a morgue worker — Marusya and Myshko, two outsiders wandering together through the warm summer nights of Minsk. White Snail is presented as an Austrian co-production and is a strong contender for the top prize. Also in the international competition are Dracula, directed by Romanian Berlinale winner Radu Jude, and As Estações (The Seasons) by Maureen Fazendeiros. In the youth section Pardi di domani, which supports emerging talents, another Austrian film, Bleifrei 95 by directors Emma Hütt and Tina Muffler, is also competing for awards. The festival is traditionally known for its open-air evening screenings on Locarno’s historic town square. The awards ceremony, including the presentation of the Golden Leopard, will take place under the stars on August 16, marking the climax of this major cultural event.
