У Чехії триває показ документального фільму «Великий вітчизняний вояж» режисера Робіна Квапіла (нар. 1982), що спричинив помітний резонанс у медіа та суспільстві. Стрічка досліджує момент зіткнення скепсису щодо війни в Україні й поширених дезінформаційних наративів із безпосереднім досвідом війни. Фільм знято у форматі дорожнього кіно. Його автори запросили кількох громадян Чехії, які сумнівалися в масштабах і реальності російської агресії проти України, вирушити разом зі знімальною групою до постраждалих регіонів, зокрема до Харкова. Камера фіксує не лише побачене, а й внутрішні реакції учасників, їхні спроби переосмислити власні переконання під впливом пережитого. Прем’єра стрічки відбулася 21 серпня 2025 року — напередодні річниці радянського вторгнення до Чехословаччини 1968 року, що підкреслює свідому історичну паралель між минулим і сучасною війною в Європі. За словами режисера, мета фільму полягає не в осуді чи «перевихованні» героїв, а в аналізі механізмів мислення людей, які відкидають усталені факти, та у виявленні меж інформаційних бульбашок. Реакція критиків і глядачів виявилася неоднозначною. Частина оглядачів назвала стрічку важливою соціальною діагностикою та чесною спробою зазирнути у свідомість фрагментованого суспільства. Інші ж критикували її за повільний темп, відсутність чіткого драматургічного розвитку та суперечливий етичний баланс між спостереженням і втручанням. У ряді рецензій зазначалося, що фінальний ефект виявився стриманішим, ніж обіцяла сама концепція. Попри полярні оцінки, «Великий вітчизняний вояж» уже став одним із найбільш обговорюваних документальних фільмів у Чехії останніх років. Його дедалі частіше сприймають не лише як фільм про війну в Україні, а як ширше висловлювання про стан європейських суспільств, їхню інформаційну вразливість і межі суспільного діалогу в добу глибокої політичної та медійної поляризації.
The Czech Documentary Film “The Great Patriotic Trip”: When Disinformation Confronts the Reality of War
The Czech Republic is currently screening the documentary film The Great Patriotic Trip by director Robin Kvapil (born 1982), which has sparked a noticeable public and media debate. The film examines the moment when skepticism about the war in Ukraine and widely circulated disinformation narratives collide with the direct experience of war itself. Shot in the form of a road movie, the documentary follows several Czech citizens who questioned the scale and reality of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. Together with the film crew, they travel to war-affected regions, including Kharkiv. The camera captures not only what they witness, but also the participants’ inner reactions and their attempts to reassess their own beliefs in light of what they experience. The film premiered on 21 August 2025, deliberately timed just ahead of the anniversary of the 1968 Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia, drawing a conscious historical parallel between past events and today’s war in Europe. According to the director, the aim of the film is not to condemn or “re-educate” its protagonists, but to analyse the mechanisms of thinking among people who reject established facts and to explore the limits of informational echo chambers. Critical and audience responses have been mixed. Some reviewers described the film as an important social diagnosis and an honest attempt to peer into the mindset of a fragmented society. Others criticised it for its slow pace, the absence of a clear dramatic arc, and an ambiguous ethical balance between observation and intervention. Several reviews noted that the final impact was more restrained than the concept itself initially promised. Despite these polarised reactions, The Great Patriotic Trip has already become one of the most widely discussed documentary films in the Czech Republic in recent years. It is increasingly seen not only as a film about the war in Ukraine, but also as a broader statement on the condition of European societies, their vulnerability to disinformation, and the limits of public dialogue in an era of deep political and media polarisation.
