Ірландська компанія швидкого харчування Supermac’s виграла суд у Європейському суді проти світового гіганта McDonald’s у тривалій суперечці щодо використання торгової марки «Big Mac», пише www.rte.ie
Європейський суд виніс рішення про те, що McDonald's не може використовувати цей товарний знак, коли йдеться про продукти з птиці, такі як сендвічі з куркою.
Рішення також позбавляє McDonald’s права використовувати термін Big Mac як товарний знак для маркування своїх ресторанів та для «їжі на виніс».

The court ruled that McDonald's cannot use the trademark when it comes to poultry products, such as chicken sandwiches.
The decision also deprives McDonald's of the right to use the term Big Mac as a trademark to label its restaurants and for takeout.
Supermac's stated that historically McDonald's has used the Big Mac trademark to prevent the Irish company from calling its outlets “Supermac's”.
McDonald's originally registered the Big Mac trademark in the European Union in 1996.
However, in 2017, Supermac filed an application with the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) requesting to cancel the trademark on the grounds that McDonald's had not used it properly over the previous five years.
In 2019, the EUIPO partially ruled in favor of Supermac's, canceling the registration of the Big Mac trademark from McDonald's.
As a result, Supermac's was allowed to use the Big Mac name on any food products it sold.
