У Ризі вперше в Балтії відбудеться масштабний Європейський конгрес з історії ілюзії (European Magic History Conference, EMHC). Подія, що збирає науковців, артистів і колекціонерів, обіцяє поєднати дослідження з видовищем. Організатором став Театр-музей Mystero під керівництвом латвійсько-італійського дуету Дайце та Енріко Пеццоллі, відомих у понад 70 країнах своїми виставами та проєктами збереження магічної спадщини. Програма конгресу включає 16 тематичних лекцій від дослідників зі США, Великої Британії, Італії, Фінляндії, Німеччини та інших країн. Серед учасників — американський історик магії Майк Кавені, британська дослідниця Енн Ґулден, фінська ілюзіоністка Паулііна Рясанен, відома вивченням жіночих постатей у магії, та італієць Сальваторе Рапаччіуоло, який реконструює середньовічні вуличні трюки. Особливу увагу обіцяє зібрати показ класичного фільму Гаррі Гудіні Terror Island з живим музичним супроводом у Splendid Palace. Також у програмі — прем’єра документальної стрічки швейцарця Фредді Руца про трагічну долю ілюзіоніста Ґюнтера Даммана, виставка «Магія і таємниця в Латвії (XVII–XX ст.)» у бібліотеці Латвійського університету, та унікальні перформанси італійського майстра Ауреліо Павіато. Конгрес має на меті не лише зібрати фахівців, а й показати ширшій аудиторії, що мистецтво ілюзії — це культурна спадщина, яка поєднує історію, науку і сучасні мистецькі практики.
Riga becomes the capital of European illusion
For the first time in the Baltics, Riga will host the large-scale European Magic History Conference (EMHC). The event, bringing together scholars, performers, and collectors, promises to merge research with spectacle. The conference is organized by the Mystero Theatre-Museum, led by the Latvian-Italian duo Dace and Enrico Pezolli, renowned in over 70 countries for their performances and projects dedicated to preserving magical heritage. The program includes 16 thematic lectures by researchers from the USA, the UK, Italy, Finland, Germany, and beyond. Among the participants are American historian of magic Mike Caveney, British scholar Anne Goulden, Finnish illusionist Pauliina Räsänen, known for her studies of women in magic, and Italian expert Salvatore Rapacciuolo, who reconstructs medieval street tricks. A highlight of the program will be a screening of Harry Houdini’s classic film Terror Island, accompanied by live piano music at the Splendid Palace. Also featured are the premiere of Swiss director Freddie Rutz’s documentary on the tragic fate of illusionist Günther Dammann, the exhibition Magic and Mystery in Latvia (17th–20th centuries) at the University of Latvia Library, and unique performances by Italian master Aurelio Paviato. The congress aims not only to gather professionals but also to show the wider public that the art of illusion is a form of cultural heritage — one that unites history, science, and contemporary artistic practice.
