Другий Західний військовий суд Москви заочно засудив письменника Бориса Акунiна (справжнє ім’я – Григорій Чхартішвілі) до 14 років позбавлення волі в колонії суворого режиму, штрафу в 400 тис. рублів і чотирирічної заборони адмініструвати інтернет-сторінки після відбуття покарання. Прокуратура вимагала 18 років ув’язнення за звинуваченнями у «сприянні тероризму», «виправданні тероризму» та порушенні закону про « іноагенти ». Справу розглянули без дозволу Акуніна на участь захисту, в присутності лише одного свідка. Письменнника обвинувачують у публічному «виправданні тероризму». Сам Акунін заявив, що не визнає цієї «суди» і не уповноважував жодного адвоката брати участь у процесі. Разом із Акуніним, російський письменник Дмитро Биков (1967 року, Москва) потрапив до бази російського МВС як злочинець, що переховується. Засудив російське вторгнення. Сьогодні перебуває за кордоном, працює в US academia — зокрема, в Cornell і Rochester, імовірно уникнувши російського переслідування .

The Second Western Military Court in Moscow has sentenced writer Boris Akunin (real name: Grigory Chkhartishvili) in absentia to 14 years in a high-security penal colony, a fine of 400,000 rubles, and a four-year ban on administering online content following his release. Prosecutors had sought an 18-year sentence, accusing Akunin of "aiding terrorism," "justifying terrorism," and violating the law on so-called "foreign agents." The case was heard without Akunin’s consent for legal representation and with only one witness present. The main charge concerns public justification of terrorism, allegedly based on his social media posts and a manipulated conversation with Russian pranksters posing as Ukrainian officials. Akunin has rejected the legitimacy of the trial, stating that he does not recognize the court and did not authorize any lawyer to act on his behalf. Alongside Akunin, Russian author Dmitry Bykov (born 1967, Moscow) has also been added to the Russian Interior Ministry’s wanted list as a fugitive. A vocal critic of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Bykov currently resides abroad and works in American academia, including at Cornell and the University of Rochester, apparently avoiding Russian prosecution.
