Один із найвпливовіших сучасних композиторів Європи, естонець Арво Пярт, святкує 90-річчя масштабною міжнародною програмою концертів. Його ювілей відзначали виступами у Глазго, Лондоні та Гамбурзі за участі провідних естонських музичних колективів. Естонський філармонічний камерний хор (, EFK) виступив разом із Талліннським камерним оркестром Glasgow City Halls. А за два дні колектив продовжив гастролі у Barbican Centre в Лондоні — одному з ключових майданчиків британського музичного життя. З Лондона хор вирушив до Німеччини, де музика маестро лунала у Elbphilharmonie в Гамбурзі — одному з найпрестижніших концертних залів Європи. У цьому концерті EFK співпрацював з відомим німецьким ансамблем Ensemble Resonanz, який вирізняється сучасним підходом до камерної музики. Arvo Pärt’s 90th anniversary to be marked by a series of concerts in the United Kingdom and Germany
One of Europe’s most influential contemporary composers, the Estonian Arvo Pärt, is celebrating his 90th birthday with a large-scale international concert programme. His jubilee has been marked by performances in Glasgow, London, and Hamburg, featuring leading Estonian musical ensembles. The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir (EPCC) performed together with the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra at Glasgow City Halls. Two days later, the ensemble continued its tour at the Barbican Centre in London—one of the key venues of British musical life. From London, the choir travelled to Germany, where the maestro’s music was heard at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, one of Europe’s most prestigious concert halls. For this concert, the EPCC collaborated with the renowned German ensemble Ensemble Resonanz, noted for its contemporary approach to chamber music. These anniversary events form part of the choir’s intensive touring schedule: by the end of 2025, the EPCC will have given 78 concerts in Estonia and 14 abroad. Between October and December, the ensemble has also planned tours of the United States, China, South America, and several European countries.
Arvo Pärt is one of the central figures of world classical music, whose work has had a profound influence on contemporary choral and sacred traditions. Born in Estonia in 1935, Pärt moved from avant-garde experimentation in the 1960s to developing his own minimalist style, tintinnabuli, inspired by Gregorian chant and early polyphony. His music—focused on silence, spirituality, and simplicity—is performed in leading concert halls, churches, and films, reaching a wide international audience and remaining in exceptionally high demand on the world’s foremost stages.
