У Франції тривають урочистості з нагоди Дня Бастилії — головного національного свята, що щороку об'єднує мільйони французів довкола цінностей свободи, рівності та братерства. Цьогорічна дата символічна: минає 236 років від взяття Бастилії — події, яка стала початком Французької революції та формування сучасної європейської демократії. 14 липня 1789 року парижани штурмом узяли королівську в'язницю Бастилію, яка символізувала абсолютистську владу та репресії. Подія поклала початок новій політичній ері, а з 1880 року день узятий як офіційне національне свято Франції. Цьогоріч у Парижі, на Єлисейських Полях, пройшов урочистий військовий парад за участі понад 4 тисяч військових, пілотів, пожежників і рятувальників. Почесними гостями стали представники НАТО, вшановуючи роль Франції у спільній безпеці континенту. Однією з особливостей 2025 року стали "Ночі Свободи" — серія культурних подій у 14 містах Франції, присвячених історії прав людини, міграції та екології. Увечері — незмінне шоу феєрверків над Сеною та біля Ейфелевої вежі, яке цьогоріч має тему "La République en lumière" — Республіка у світлі. Очікується, що святкові події у столиці відвідають понад 600 тисяч осіб, а телевізійну трансляцію подивляться близько 10 мільйонів глядачів.

Liberté in Celebration: France Marks Bastille Day 2025
Festivities are underway across France as the nation celebrates Bastille Day — the country’s principal national holiday, which annually unites millions of citizens around the values of liberty, equality, and fraternity. This year’s date carries particular weight: it marks 236 years since the storming of the Bastille — the historic moment that ignited the French Revolution and laid the foundation for modern European democracy. On 14 July 1789, Parisians stormed the royal prison known as the Bastille — a symbol of absolutist power and repression. The event ushered in a new political era, and since 1880, the date has been observed as France’s official national holiday. This year in Paris, the traditional military parade once again marched down the Champs-Élysées, featuring over 4,000 participants, including soldiers, pilots, firefighters, and rescue workers. Representatives of NATO were present as guests of honour, underscoring France’s ongoing role in European and global security. One of the distinctive features of Bastille Day 2025 is the launch of Nights of Liberty — a nationwide programme of cultural events held in 14 cities across France. These events focus on the themes of human rights, migration, and environmental consciousness. The evening culminates in the much-anticipated fireworks display over the Seine and near the Eiffel Tower, this year set to the theme La République en lumière — The Republic in Light. Over 600,000 spectators are expected to attend the celebrations in the capital, with an estimated 10 million viewers tuning in via television and streaming platforms.
