Напад крадіїв стався в першу годину роботи музею. За попередніми даними, нападники прибули на місце на вантажівці, обладнаній підйомним механізмом, і на двох потужних скутерах. Використовуючи цей підйомник, вони дісталися до Галереї Аполлона — зали, де зберігаються коштовності французьких монархів. Зламавши вікно за допомогою дискової пили, грабіжники розбили дві вітрини — із «коштовностями Наполеона» та «ювелірними прикрасами французьких монархів» — і викрали щонайменше сім предметів. Уся операція тривала лише сім хвилин. На місці злочину поліція виявила дві дискові пили, пальне, рукавиці, рацію, покривало та пошкоджену коштовність — корону імператриці Євгенії, оздоблену понад тисячею діамантів, трояндами та смарагдами. Розслідування веде Бригада боротьби з бандитизмом за підтримки Центрального управління з протидії незаконному обігу культурних цінностей. Галерея Аполлона, куди проникли грабіжники, є однією з найцінніших зал Лувру. Під позолоченими склепіннями, розписаними Шарлем Лебреном і Еженом Делакруа, зберігаються коштовності французької корони — серед них легендарний 140-каратний діамант «Регент», корона Людовіка XV та імператорські прикраси XIX століття. Це не перше подібне пограбування у французьких музеях. Минулого року мішенню злочинців став музей Коньяк-Джей (район Маре, Париж), де було викрадено антикварні табакерки та діаманти. Частину цих предметів поліція знайшла лише минулого тижня. Нинішній інцидент у Луврі викликав широку суспільну реакцію. The daring robbery at the Louvre: seven minutes that shook France
A brazen theft at the Louvre took place within the museum’s first hour of operation. According to preliminary reports, the assailants arrived at the site in a truck equipped with a lifting mechanism and on two powerful scooters. Using the lift, they gained access to the Apollo Gallery — the hall that houses the crown jewels of the French monarchy. Armed with an angle grinder, the thieves broke a window, shattered two display cases — one containing the “Napoleon Jewels” and another showcasing “Jewels of the French Sovereigns” — and stole at least seven items. The entire operation lasted no more than seven minutes. At the scene, police recovered two grinders, a blowtorch, fuel, gloves, a radio, a blanket, and a damaged piece of jewelry — the crown of Empress Eugénie, adorned with over a thousand diamonds, roses, and emeralds.The investigation is being led by the Anti-Banditry Brigade (BRB) with the support of the Central Office for the Fight Against the Trafficking of Cultural Property (OCBC).The targeted Apollo Gallery is one of the most treasured halls of the Louvre. Beneath its gilded ceilings, painted by Charles Le Brun and Eugène Delacroix, are displayed the French Crown Jewels — including the legendary 140-carat “Regent” diamond, the crown of Louis XV, and a collection of imperial ornaments from the 19th century.This is not the first such incident in France’s museums. Last year, the Cognacq-Jay Museum in Paris’s Marais district was targeted by thieves who stole antique snuffboxes and diamonds. Some of those stolen items were only recovered by police last week.The Louvre heist has sparked widespread public outrage. French politicians have described it as “a wound to the nation’s soul” and “a humiliation for France.”
